Over the weekend of September 17-18, 2010, Our Lady of Confidence and St. Joseph Secular Carmelites in Savannah gathered at the Carmelite Monastery for their second retreat for 2010. The Retreat Master was Fr. Daniel Firmin. The theme for the weekend was Prayer.
The Retreat began on Friday at 4:00pm at Bethany, adjacent to the Carmelite Monastery.
Mass was celebrated by Fr. Firmin on Saturday at 8:00am in the Chapel of the Monastery. Immediately following Mass, there was time allotted for reflection and meditation. After reflection, the community read the Morning Office. After the Morning Office, we assembled at Bethany House to enjoy brunch together. Fr. Daniel Firmin conducted the two conferences covering:
- Types of Prayer
- Preparation for Prayer
- Contemplative Prayer and its role in Christian Life
The community then watched a film on Contemplative Prayer. We concluded out retreat with the reading of the Evening Office.
